Norm,
As I understand it, 0.035” is standard for
these exhausts. Larry only uses 0.049 for repairs. It is
too heavy to use as standard.
When I bought my exhaust system, Larry was
recommending that it be supported from the engine
mount tubes. I used his supplied hardware and
support recommendations. But, I had two failures of
the Adel clamps, so I switched to the springs.
Larry later changed his recommended support
location to the back of the oil sump, which I believe is
a much better design, and my use of the earlier design
may have been a contributing factor in my crack.
Unfortunately I have a lot of stuff in the way, and I
would need to move a bunch of things around before I
could switch to this type of support. I plan to do that
sometime.
